What do you do to relax?
Many highly sensitive people have to watch their energy level. They usually notice that it depletes quicker then you can fill the engine. One of the tricks of feeling comfortable in your own skin is to find out what fills your engine and what doesn't. One of the things that does it for me is the beach. There is something about dunes and beaches that relaxes me. It has it's charm anytime of the year. Even now in winter it is beautifull against the pale winter sun. I love to watch the waves coming in on the beach, footsteps in the sand dissapearing in the water, the animals in the dunes, the vegetation. I could go on and on. Yesterday again I found out the power of the sea. It makes me feel safe and helps to take away any unease I might feel inside. What does the same for you? Feel free to leave a remark, I would really like to know.
Music helps me to relax. Especially the instrumental type of music called "New Age"...
Enya is a good example here, and so are such composers as Philip Riley, Peter Kater, and Doug Hammer.
It's like a soothing soak in the tub to just pop on the earphones and immerse myself into a few repeats of Hammer's Sunrise !
I also find myself relaxed by watching old films- especially comedies, and romantic movies with happy endings.
But, as much as I love sci-fi shows, I don't find myself relaxing to them very well. Maybe because they always inspire me and give me ideas that I want to act on right then !
Star Trek Voyager does help me relax sometimes... and I think it is because the show has such a good camaraderie between it's leading characters. It has the feel of visiting people you really enjoy spending time with.
Good examples! Music will sometimes do it for me as well. When I feel down I have to be careful not to play sad songs or my mood will plummet even more. I play uplifting songs, or watch a comedy.
What I might do for you
Safe Haven Coaching offers general coaching an counseling through email and messenger/skype. [if you live in the Netherlands you can also see me f2f] I also offer the following specialities:
I coach highly senstive people who are 'bothered' by noises, strong emotions and the moods of others to deal with these situations differently. This way it is easer to function better during work and social interactions and 'space' is created to develop the joys of being sensitive.
I also coach people with cronic pain problems who have troubles integrating the pain in their lives. Through exercises and coachingtalks/e-mails I offer new insights and as a result you will have more energy to spend on the nice things in life.
